1.0 ESTABLISHMENT AND REGISTRATION

The Green Shadow-Tz was established in 2019 and legally registered in August 2020 as Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) under NGO Act, 2002 with registration number ooNGO/R/1293. The organization headquarters are based in Kigoma-Ujiji Municipal. Formerly, the organization was founded as community based organization (CBO) called MWAVULI ORG which, was registered in May 2020 in Kigoma Ujiji Municipality council with registration certificate KUMC/KTB/CBO/043.

THE GREEN SHADOW-TZ purpose is to promote community health wellbeing and benefit natural environment. It works with and for the benefiting environment; HIV/AIDS affected and at risk with special focus on sex workers, construction workers and other individuals at risk of contracting HIV/AIDS.

Mission Statement
The Organization aims to improve the Lives of Individuals and Communities to enhance their Capacity and Development support to key areas of Health, human right practices and Environment protection to attain Sustainable Economic Development in rural communities.

OBJECTIVES
I. Rising awareness education and campaigns to communities to have good health and increasing awareness on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria and safe motherhood

II. Empower the community that will support the actions needed to the environment protection and equitable use of resources in order to improve their lives.

III. Advocates human rights practices on protecting children, women and people with disabilities to have clean access and support to reach their rights, developments and Capacity Buildings with action research, which based on participatory approach by all the levels of the community.

IV. To promote education of Gender Equality, Women & youth Empowerment, community cooperation and solidarity among themselves.

Methodology and Approaches

a) Community Based Approach;

The Green Shadow-Tz mobilizes the communities to identify their issues/challenges facing them. Therefore, the empowered communities elect their own resource persons that include and not limited to Community Health Workers (CHWs), Community Based Distribution Agents (CBDAs), Forest Monitors (FMs), Community Nutrition Champions (CNCs), Gender Based Violence Prevention Champions (GBVPCs) and Youth Peer Educators (YPEs), who will be involved in programme/project activities designing, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

b) Evidence based implementation approach with THE GREEN SHADOW-TZ we apply researchtechniques in reporting factual and definition community problems.

WHAT WE DO
Since 2019, THE GREEN SHADOW-TZ has managed reaching out and touching directly lives of over 800 beneficiaries in Kigoma, Tanzania. Selected THE GREEN SHADOW-TZ activities have included but not limited to;

Providing Sexuality Education, HIV/AIDS awareness rising, voluntarily HIV pre-testing and post-testing, and counseling services;
Since its establishment, The Green Shadow Tz, has been providing Sexuality Education, HIV and AIDS awareness raising, voluntarily HIV pre-testing and post-testing and counseling services, particularly, to young people with ages ranging from 14-24 years through; non-formal techniques (drama, songs, extra-curriculum activities) and formal (training workshops, focus group discussions), one-to-one office visits, distribution of information, Education and Communication Materials (IECs) materials. So far, the organization has already reached more than 261 youth. Moreover, the Green Shadow through collaboration with Council Health Management Team (CHMT) in Kigoma-Ujiji Municipal, has already working with 24 CHWs and sharing working experiences in the following dispensaries and health facilities; Ujiji, Rusimbi, Msifuni, Gungu, Bangwe and Kigoma dispensary. The CHWs were oriented on GBV issues, community referral idea on identification and support clients with health-related problems such as maternal health, tuberculosis, Malaria, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and nutrition.

I. Conduct environmental conservation education and to respond to environmental degradation.

The Green Shadow-Tz in order to achieve its goal is ensuring that the living environment is pleasant and makes a dramatic difference in the life of the communities we engage in.

In order to meet the community needs, we aim to provide diverse environmental solutions. These include:

• Waste Management
• Road Sweeping
• Education and awareness creation

III. January 2019 - December 2019: HIV/AIDS PREVENTION CAMPAIGN KIGOMA UJIJI MUNICIPAL
Project Objectives: HIV/AIDS prevention campaign activities for female sex workers and women at risk working areas in Kigoma municipal communities.. Funded by Tanzania Red Cross Society
Executed Activities: 1) Reached out to youth through radio talk shows with HIV/AIDS prevention messaging in Kigoma district, 2) Promoted voluntary HIV testing, 3) Supported change agents to take voluntary actions, and 4) Promoted the distribution and proper use of condoms.
Selected Achievements: 1) Pre and post-test counseled 121 beneficiaries 2) 111 youth received couching on change agent skills and peer education sessions. 3) Over 80 were reached through radio talk shows 4) Increased adolescent youths’ access to HIV/AIDS transmission information.

II. October 2020- September 2021 HIV/AIDS AWARENESS KARIUA ROAD PROJECT: Under Jossam Co & Ltd Tabora
Awareness Program: Implementing the project for HIV/AIDS and road safety awareness Campaign programme for UPGRADING OF KARIUA -MZIMWA ROAD TO BITUMEN STANDARD ( 34 kms) under Jossam Co & Ltd Tabora
Project Objective: HIV/AIDS PREVENTION campaign awareness to construction workers and surrounding communities along the project area UPGRADING OF KARIUA -MZIMWA ROAD TO BITUMEN STANDARD ( 34 kms) under Jossam Co & Ltd Tabora
Executed Activities: 1) Reached out to construction workers, and communities through Video shows, community open events, voluntary HIV testing, distribution of male and female condoms, community leaders meetings and teamed up with Kaliua district council health management team in monitoring and evaluations.

Selected Achievements: HIVAIDS testing to communities and construction workers a total of 1971, 23 peer educator were trained for peer to peer education, 11 community leaders meetings were conducted and 5 community open events were conducted in 3 wards along the project areas, 3 secondary schools along project area participated in youth HIV forums which were given the skills on HIV education prevention .

Furthermore, in 2020 through collaboration with Kigoma-Ujiji Municipal, The Green Shadow-Tz in 2020 participated in tree planting activities/campaigns along 1.45 Km Kagashe road. The organization managed to plant out 127 trees

In addition, the Green Shadow-Tz in collaboration with (services providers (police gender desk. Health, legal and community leaders) managed to provide 11 gender based violence survivors (60% females, 30% children and 10% youth).

Furthermore, The Green Shadow-Tz achieved to empower 13 young mothers through training on group management and leadership, human rights, business and entrepreneurship skills.
The Green Shadow-Tz also implemented activities on behavioral change and communication (BCC) through youth music dancers in Kigoma –Ujiji Municipal, we achieved to recruit one (1) dancing group with 10 members called Mwavuli Agent for Change Dancers Group (MAC) for community mobilization activities on areas of HIV and AIDS prevention, safe motherhood and human rights.

2021-2024 the Organization is sub contracted by the main contractor Zhejiang Communications Construction Group Co. Ltd (ZCCC) for implementation of Road safety improvement, training and awareness Program for the road project named as “Contract No. TRD/HQ/1033/2019/20, for Upgradingof Kabingo – Kasulu - Manyovu (260.6 Km) road to Bitumen Standard, Lot 1: Kasulu Junction – Manyovu including Kasulu Town Links (68.25 Km). In this project, the organization isensuring theimplementations of measures that may effectively influence the behavior of road users be recognized.
GREEN SHADOW-TZ has managed donor funding and donor funded HIV/AIDS, TB, and Malaria projects with higher level of success. Selectively, below are the exemplary completed HIV/AIDS projects and environment protection project since it was begun in 2019 to date.

March 2022 to February 2023: HIV/AIDS AWARENESS KIBONDO ROAD PROJECT funded by: Sinohydro Cooperation LTD
12 Months contracted to implement HIV/AIDS Awareness Program: Implementing the project for HIV/AIDS and road safety awareness Campaign programme for upgrade Kibondo Town Link Road (Nduta Junction – Kibondo Town – Kibondo Junction Section - 25.9km) to Bitumen Standard under Sinohydro Corporation Limited
Project Objective: HIV/AIDS PREVENTION campaign awareness to construction workers and surrounding communities along the project area of Upgrading of Kibondo Town Link (Nduta Junction–Kibondo Town–Kibondo Junction Section - 25.9Km
Executed Activities: 1) Reached out to construction workers, and communities through Video shows, community open events, voluntary HIV testing, distribution of male and female condoms, community leaders meetings and teamed up with Kibondo district council health management team in monitoring and evaluations.
Selected Achievements: HIVAIDS testing to communities and construction workers a total of 2367, 43 peer educator were trained for peer to peer education, 23 community leaders meetings were conducted and 11 community open events were conducted in 5 wards along the project areas, 6 secondary schools along project area participated in youth HIV forums which were given the skills on HIV education prevention .

October 2020- September 2021 HIV/AIDS AWARENESS KARIUA ROAD PROJECT: Under Jossam Co & Ltd Tabora

2024 to date The Organization is sub-contracted by CHINA RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING GROUP CO. LTD (CRCEG) and has been contracted by TANROADS to undertake a project of Rehabilitation and upgrading of Kigoma airport The Green Shadow-Tz has been awarded as sub-contracted by China Railway Construction Engineering Group Co. Ltd (CRCEG )to provide service of STIs and HIV/AIDS AWARENESS and PREVENTION campaign program during the implementation of Rehabilitation and upgrading of Kigoma airport project .
The organization is currently assigned to conduct STIs and HIV/AIDS Awareness and
Prevention campaign program by possessing the necessary technical skills, experience, and personnel and collaborating with other key stakeholders such as Kigoma Regional authority, district councils, and community leaders along the road construction areas.
