
Through this partnership, The Green Shadow was supported with sewing machines and various tailoring materials and equipment, including:
• Fabrics for making reusable sanitary pads
• Measuring tapes
• Threads
• Needles
• Tailor’s chalk
• Scissors
• Other essential tailoring tools and supplies
This support has strengthened the capacity of women and girls to produce safe, reusable sanitary pads while creating opportunities for entrepreneurship, income generation, and community service.
Binti Project (Africraft NGO)
Project Overview
The Binti Project by Africraft NGO focuses on promoting Menstrual Health and Hygiene (MHM) through education, access to reusable sanitary pads, and women’s economic empowerment.
The project provides:
• Menstrual health and hygiene education (MHM)
• Distribution of reusable sanitary pads
• Capacity building for women’s entrepreneurship groups to produce reusable sanitary pads using sewing machines
• Skills development aimed at transforming traditional traders into service providers and creating employment opportunities
Project Areas and Target Beneficiaries
The project was first launched in Kigoma Region and initially implemented in vocational training colleges. It is currently expanding to six additional regions:

The project recognizes women entrepreneurs and caregivers as important agents of change in promoting safe menstrual health services within communities.
The reusable sanitary pads produced under the project are:

• Durable and environmentally friendly
• Designed to help girls remain confident, comfortable, and active in their daily responsibilities even during menstruation

15 young women were trained in reusable sanitary pad production at The Green Shadow offices under the Mwavuli Group initiative.
