HIV prevention methods are strategies used to reduce the risk of getting or spreading HIV/AIDS. Key methods include: Condom use: Using male or female condoms correctly every time during sex helps block transmission. Abstinence or fewer partners: Avoiding sex or limiting the number of sexual partners reduces exposure risk. Regular testing: Knowing your HIV status helps you and your partner take appropriate precautions. PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis): HIV-negative people can take daily medicine to lower their risk of infection. PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis): Emergency medication taken within 72 hours after possible exposure. Avoid sharing needles: Especially important for people who inject drugs. Treatment as prevention : People living with HIV who take antiretroviral therapy and achieve an undetectable viral load do not pass the virus to others.
